Fetch Robotics Mobile Manipulator

When Fetch Robotics was in its infancy, the Mobile Manipulator (named Fetch) was considered to be a product that would be deployed in warehouses and manufacturing facilities fairly early on. As we developed the robot and examined use cases, it became clear that grasping items in complex environments was going to be more difficult than we imagined. However, we still designed the robot with the end users in mind. We wanted the robot to look friendly and approachable yet capable and rugged enough to handle complex environments.

Fetch Robotics Research Robot

Since grasping object in complex faculties was so difficult, we decided to focus on mobile bases and only sell Fetch as a research robot. Fetch has become one of the top selling academic research robots available and can be found in most universities that offer a robotics curriculum.

Reachability

The arm has seven degrees of freedom which provides the ability to grasp objects on the ground or at the edge of a six foot high shelf when the torso is fully extended.

Fetch and Freight’s First Photo Shoot

These two robots were meant to work in tandem. While Fetch would do the picking, Freight would deliver to a pack out station. Unfortunately, this tandem never materialized as other use cases took priority.
